Origin

The giant sequoia or red sequoia is a species of evergreen tree in the Cupressaceae family. Native to the United States, it is found mainly in California, along the west coast of the country. The first giant sequoia appeared around 200 million years ago, during the Jurassic period, and evolved into the large trees we know today.
