Goldenrain tree - Koelreuteria paniculata

Description

The soap tree, also known as Koelreuteria paniculata, is native to the Far East and is prized for its beauty and ability to attract birds and butterflies. It can reach heights of 8 to 15 metres and is distinguished by its large clusters of bright yellow flowers, which appear in summer. The soap tree's leaves are deciduous and turn a beautiful orange-red in autumn. It also produces capsule-shaped fruits that resemble soap bags, hence its common name. This tree is popular in landscaping because of its drought tolerance and ease of maintenance.
